Wedding DJ Hertfordshire

Wedding Disco at Elstree

Return to 'Real Weddings'

Sorrel and Russell wanted a fun wedding reception at the Edgwarebury Hotel in Elstree (now known as The Manor Elstree), and that's exactly what they got.

The photos shown here were all from the early part of the evening. Unfortunately, the camera died before they really got going later on!

What they wanted: Sorrel and Russell had a very clear idea of what they wanted from their wedding DJ and disco and had sat down with several other DJs before meeting with us at Edgwarebury Hotel.

We sat down together in the bar chatting over a drink about their wedding plans and what they liked and disliked, and how they pictured their evening disco.

Although Sorrel and Russell didn't have many requests for specific songs, they knew they wanted wall-to-wall, high-energy, party tracks from the 1980s onwards, with an emphasis on current and recent chart and had made finding the right wedding DJ one of their highest priorities.

Later, we all moved in to the room where the evening reception would be taking place to plan out the best 'look' for their disco.

After our meeting, they chose us to supply their wedding DJ.

The Venue: We are always pleased to receive an enquiry to supply a DJ at Edgwarebury Hotel, as it's such a friendly place and wedding receptions always feel very personal there.

Sorrel and Russell were having their wedding breakfast upstairs, and the evening reception and disco downstairs, which can often be a challenge as people don't want to move, and if they cannot hear the music, they do not know what they are missing! However, at Edgwarebury, this isn't so much of a problem as the downstairs room has its own bar, and they also serve the evening buffet down there.

The room itself is a quirky space with a low ceiling in parts, which made fitting in the DJ, disco, lighting, star cloth, and mirror ball set up that Sorrel and Russell wanted a challenge (especially since there was a ceiling beam in the way that would block much of the lighting), but with a little bit of ingenuity, we managed to come up with something that ticked all the boxes.

The First Dance: Sorrel and Russell chose You and me by The Wannadies as their first dance, but decided that they didn't want to be on the floor on their own for the whole song, so Laurence (their DJ) called for everyone else to join them on the dance floor half-way through the song, and from that moment on, the dance floor was very lively all night.

During the reception, Russell's father told Laurence that Sorrel and Russell were so happy after meeting with us, since up until that point, they didn't feel anyone they had met was quite right and didn't really understand what they wanted.

At the end of the night, Russell couldn't thank Laurence enough for getting it just right.
