We were recommended to Christina and Gilberto and supplied their DJ, wedding disco and mood lighting at Down Hall Country House Hotel in Hatfield Heath, Hertfordshire.
They came to us at very short notice when they had problems with the DJ they had originally booked, but it all came together beautifully in the end.
The Venue: Down Hall Country House Hotel is a truly magnificent venue that has hosted many celebrity weddings in the past, and is one that we have been to many times.
With several rooms of different size, they are able to cater for different-sized weddings, but all are opulent yet tasteful.
Christine and Gilberto's reception took place on a Sunday for approximately 60 guests, and the reception was held in one of the ground floor rooms.
Supplied: The happy couple and their guests were due to arrive at 2:30pm, so we went in ealier and, whilst the venue staff were dressing the tables and chairs, we set up for their evening wedding disco and also installed purple up-lighting in the room which was positioned to highlight the columns.
It looked absolutely stunning (even if we do say so ourselves!)
The evening: The DJ for their wedding reception returned to Down Hall Hotel in the evening for the party and, unusually for a Sunday evening, played right through until 1:00am to a busy dance floor. (Often Sunday weddings finish early, or people leave early as they are worried about getting up for work on Monday morning.)
One of the surprises of the night was that, although Christina and Gilberto had specifically requested that no participation dances be played during the evening, they agreed the DJ could play YMCA after several guests requested it, which not only gave rise to the usual dance, but also resulted in an impromptu conga line comprising of every single person in the room!
First Dance as Husband and Wife: Christina and Gilberto chose Van Morrison's “Have I told you lately that I love you” as their first dance.
