Having married in Las Vegas, when they returned to the UK Mark and Bex decided to hold a party and invite their friends to celebrate their marriage.
Having decided to hold their wedding celebration on a party boat on the River Thames, Mark and Bex set about looking for a reliable and reputable company who could supply a DJ who was comfortable playing rock music, and who could also supply a PA for an acoustic band, including a live desk, several microphones and microphone stands.
A friend of Mark and Bex' who has been a guest at several events where we provided the entertainment put the bride and groom in touch with us, and after a brief chat, they booked us immediately.
The Venue: The wedding party was held on The Golden Star Party Boat, which departed from and returned to Temple Pier, Victoria Embankment, London.
As with all party boats, loading and unloading can be a challenge – especially at low tide. Some of the guests even had difficulty disembarking because the ramp was so steep!
Space is also always an issue on the Thames river boats, and as Mark and Bex wanted a rock DJ, lights, PA, and an acoustic band, whilst still leaving enough room for the buffet to be laid out, it took some careful planning to ensure everything ran smoothly.
The boat's owners were very helpful and agreed to change their normal lay-out in order to accommodate everything.
Of course, one of the major reasons for holding a party on the Thames is the beautiful changing scenery – and this certainly didn't disappoint in that regard.
The Evening: Mark and Bex made full use of our on-line planning tools, including our guest request system, so they and all their guests had put in requests before the night (although Mark and Bex utilized their power of veto on some of their guests requests). This meant that our DJ had a very good idea of the type of rock music that their guests liked and found it easy to choose other rock songs that would go down well at this wedding.
We managed to fit in the small DJ booth, a small lighting stand with a bank of lights, and speakers, whilst still leaving a clear dance floor, and the acoustic band were very happy with the live desk, microphones, and microphone stands we supplied for their set.
Mark and Bex didn't want to observe any wedding formalities whatsoever. They just wanted an out-and-out party, so that's exactly what they got.
The music went down wonderfully both with the newly-weds and all of their guests, and a raucous, rocking night was had by all!
Comments: Mark and Bex contacted us afterwards to say “Many thanks for providing the soundtrack to an excellent evening!“
